Summer Young Religious Leader Fellows Coming Soon!
See previous years of fellows and interns here.
This Spring, we're joined by three capable interns who each bring their own wealth of experience to our work. Here's a little bit about each of them:
Mary Duong was born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She is currently pursuing Master of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, and plans to go back to her home country after graduating. She is interested in exploring the intersection of theology, business entrepreneurship, and community organizing. Her hope is to become involved in building the beloved community in Vietnam through faith-rooted sociopolitical engagements. Working with CLUE in Orange County as a Ziegler summer fellow has connected her with the Vietnamese immigrants’ community in SoCal, particularly in Santa Ana and Garden Grove. She is thrilled to continue on in the Fall!
Benjamin Libeskind was raised in Claremont, California. He went to Claremont High School, where he was involved with the Young Democrats Club, Feminist Club, and Model United Nations. His passion for the labor and social justice movement began when he participated in a labor action, a Gay, Trans, Straight Alliance, and Amnesty International club while on a sabbatical year in Boston. In his spare time, Ben enjoys model railroading and all things passenger transportation. He is currently a fellow at Tzedek America, a Jewish social justice gap year program based in Los Angeles. He plans to study political science and public policy at Goucher College. At CLUE, Ben will focus on the Black-Jewish Justice Alliance and other unity-focused initiatives.
Christian Harrison is currently finishing a Master of Divinity with emphases in Christian Ethics and Biblical Languages at Fuller Theological Seminary. He assists CLUE’s efforts in Pasadena and understands organizing to be an integral piece of maintaining a loving and pastoral presence in his neighborhood.
Christian is a Los Angeles native, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. After several years in the music industry he completed a B.A. in Biblical Studies and began classes at Fuller in 2014. At Fuller, he is one of the lead organizers for the Peace and Justice Advocates (PJA), a group of student activists who plan and host opportunities for conversation, action, and reflection on current social justice issues and community needs. He is also a volunteer chaplain at the Y.M.C.A. of the Foothills (La Canada, La Crescenta, Tujunga). He is passionate about theological education and how we live out the ethical implications of our beliefs.
Christian and his wife, Arianna, have one son, Ethan (2 yrs.), and are in the foster-to-adopt process for Little Booger #2. He absolutely loves being a dad and spending time with his family and friends, and enjoys reading about almost everything, playing guitar, drinking craft beer, eating vegan food, and wishing he had time to pursue a million different hobbies.
